QA Manager (food)

GBR Recruitment are working on behalf of a well established Lincolnshire based food manufacturing business, recruiting for an experienced Quality Manager / QA Manager to lead the quality & technical functions onsite This is initially on a 6 month FTC role to cover with the potential to go permanent Quality Manager Role Overview: The Quality manager is a key member of the senior site management team, whose primary focus is to ensure that we satisfy the requirements of our customers with the correct quality product, on time and in full, every time. It is essential that the Quality manager has a broad knowledge and skill base which allows them to optimise product packing to ensure customer satisfaction whilst focusing on commercial considerations and the need to maximise company profitability. This role oversees an Operational QA Manager, QA Team Leaders & QA's plus other support functions across the Quality & Technical division of the business. Duties: Ensure that the site and staff comply with our legal, food safety and quality obligations as defined by the BRC Global standard and TFMS. Ensure the business retains their BRC accreditation and attain and maintain TFMS "green" status at all times Co-ordinate all QA functions - ensure there is enough intake QA cover to accommodate scheduled inputs and sufficient Output QA presence to cover all production hours Ensure all daily and weekly QA duties are completed to a satisfactory standard.Such duties include equipment calibration, shelf life assessments, site temperature checks, food safety audits, finished product assessments, positive release duties, hot-box testing, pack atmosphere testing, etc. Undertake the QA portion of the staff induction programme.In addition, co-ordinate and deliver refresher quality training as and when necessary, e.g. start of new season Ensure that satisfactory hygiene standards are maintained at all times in the main operational areas (e.g. intake, FIFO, production and despatch) and that the company hygiene rules are adhered to at all times Attend and actively participate in relevant operational meetings, e.g. SMT meetings, daily production meetings Focus on, and take responsibility for, the key performance indicators associated with quality and customer satisfaction, e.g. quality service level (QSL), rejection rate, pack giveaways, stock dwell (residency) times, customer complaints, etc. In addition to quality also consider continuous improvement, cost control and waste reduction during every operational task To be a member of the Environmental management team and to play an active role in the environmental management team (EMT) Any other reasonable duties assigned to this position. Skills & Experience: Food Manufacturing / fresh produce experience within a QA Manager, Quality Systems Manager, Technical Manager or Technical Services Manager capacity overseeing a team of 5 Low care site experience is a must have, High care site experience would be an added benefit Strong coaching, mentoring & developing skills, leading others to be their very best exceeding KPI's / set targets IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent Health & Safety qualification Strong BRC / TFMS / Reatiler Audit experience (leading audits) Level 4 Food hygiene certificate Internal Auditor Trained Level 4 HACCP Training Excel and word skills Good Manufacturing Practice Training
