Design and Technology Technician


37 hours per week, full time

Grade Hay 5 + London Fringe Allowance
Actual salary £21,529p.a

 

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, imaginative and ambitious Technician to support the smooth running of the Design and Technology Department.

The role includes preparing teaching resources, maintaining equipment and the teaching environment to a high standard, and supporting the teachers in lessons, all of which enhances the learning experience for students. The Technician works alongside teachers with the designing and making of products in lessons and working one-to-one with select students, to aid their progress within Technology. The role also includes utilising CAM machinery to assist teachers in producing student work, and to lead demonstrations of key machines for pupils when required. Experience working with power machining such as lathes, drills and mills in a commercial or educational setting is essential.

During the school holidays the Technician will help with the up keep of the school site as a skilled worker, carrying out many and various minor ‘handyman’ tasks.

  •  Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a small team
  • High level of practical and problem solving skills
  •  Flexible approach and ability to prioritise short and long term tasks
  • Efficient and meticulous in organisation
  • Willing to undertake any additional training as required.
