Software Development Manager

The Software Development Manager oversees a team of developers who design, develop and maintain the operation of our core services. The development team has specific emphasis on innovation, usability, performance and scalability. Reporting to the IT Director, the Software Development Manager is responsible for managing the objectives, performance and tracking of the Development team. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for the development processes and best practices in the team. Manage team resources to meet the established deadlines Provide leadership and encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill checks Provide feedback to Executive Team, primarily IT Director and Product Director, about the team-work progress Answers team member questions, helps with team member problems, and oversees team members work for quality and guideline compliance Communicates deadlines and goals to team members Develops strategies to promote team member adherence to company regulations and performance goals Conducts team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations Generates and shares comprehensive and detailed reports about team performance, mission-related objectives, and deadlines Assists management with hiring processes and new team member training Demonstrates flexibility and commercial awareness in resource planning and decision-making, recognising we work in a fast-paced, agile environment. Put in place a general training plan according to the training strategy set by the competency practice for team members Create specific training plans and ensures appropriate documentation and controls are in place, where applicable, to support their team in achieving their objectives and ensuring we follow through with any activity assigned Acts as a mentor and supervises the less experienced members of the team, providing performance feedback for staff reviews, adhering to procedures, policies and goals Liaises with Training Department to enable inductions, product specific training and training within each of the projects Comfortable deputising for the IT director when they are absent, out of office etc
