Technical Sales Manager - Electrical/Hydraulic Control Systems My client is a local based manufacturer in Norfolk which supplies control and safety solutions for complex and critical applications across a variety of industry sectors These include: Control & Safety Systems Service Activities Consultancy Services R&D Activities Job Description The Technical Sales Manager's role is required to actively promote the engineering capabilities of the company to fulfil the sales budget. This will be achieved by leading the pursuit of opportunities with strong technical interaction, developing technical proposals and solutions and managing the generation of proposals where multiple technical inputs are required. Providing specialist leadership to the technical aspect of sales, engaging with clients to develop ideas, preparing detailed proposals supported as necessary by the technical sales engineers, engineering team, and working closely with the BDM in ensuring that the company maintains and develop sustainable sales opportunities. Specific responsibilities include: Leading a technical, specialist, sales effort in achieving the sales budget Generating sales leads and opportunities and recording status and progress through CRM In partnership with the BDM, providing sales forecasts detailing order intake, revenue, invoicing and gross margin Engaging with customers to develop ideas and solutions that are of a high quality for complex applications Managing and participating in the provision of high quality technical and commercial sales proposals and pre-qualifications Support to develop the company's existing product range as well as establishing new business relationships using industry knowledge and working with the BDM, targeting of new opportunities internationally Working hand in hand with the BDM and company directors to ensure the agreed strategy works in harmony with the company's activities Supporting the assessment of market opportunities and target markets Gathering intelligence on customers and competitors Implementing strategies to win business in accordance with the Sales Budget Establishing and maintain relationships with strategic and relevant partner organisations Liaising with the Engineering team to establish and promote best fit client offering Involvement in the handover of contracts process Preparing and presenting proposals and obtaining stakeholder signoff Travelling when required throughout the UK and overseas Development of new business streams for the company and direct leadership of responsible bidding process with presentations to clients as well as engagement with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss and agree project specifications and procedures Ensuring the company health and safety, environmental and quality policies and practices are adhered to at all times Support in recruiting employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence Person Specification Technical/engineering background with an Electrical / Electronic / Instrumentation HND/Degree or comparable experience Experience in holding a customer facing role within the energy, oil, gas, renewables, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear or power generation industry Experience in the development, design and/or specification of automation systems, including hazardous areas, industrial cyber security, functional safety with proven success PC literate with experience of Word, Excel and CRM Possess a flexible attitude to UK and overseas travel with a valid UK driving licence To be a motivated self-starter with excellent commercial knowledge and business acumen Target and sales driven with excellent presentation skills Have proven leadership skills in a similar role would be an advantage Excellent interpersonal communication skills both with external and internal customers being able to present and influence business department heads Have a positive attitude and ability to lead a team.
