Support Worker Fixed term until 31 March 2021 Prime Appointments are looking for an organised, friendly and approachable Support Worker who has good knowledge of the Ipswich area. This candidate must be a driver and have experience of a similar position in the healthcare environment. About the client/role: 9:00-17:00 PAYE - £8.72 per hour Weekly pay Holiday pay Based at Ipswich Hospital 35 hours per week Monday-Friday Candidate may have to work alternative Saturdays if contract is extended, however would be entitled to one day off in the weekDocuments required: DVLA confirmation Right to work in the UK Enhanced Adult DBS check to be completed - Certificate must be on Update Service or we can make application with cost covered by candidate Driving licence (at least 2 years old) Recent in date relevant training - refresher top up courses can be recommended References spanning 3 yearsSupport Worker candidate skills: Demonstrate an ability to manage their own behaviour and actions, and understands how this affects team performance Ability to communicate with health and social care professionals Participation in a multi-disciplinary team environment Experience of delivering high quality services to the vulnerable individuals Full manual driving licence holder and access to vehicle Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative Innovative and creative thinking Knowledge of the local area Understanding of how to improve service quality for the benefit of users Working knowledge of health and safety practices Understanding of the Risk Assessment processYour duties as Support Worker: To ensure as safe as possible a living environment for service users through carrying out risk assessments and providing information/advice whilst respecting their individual dignity, choice and rights. Resettle people at home, ensuring the house is warm, there is food available and any risks within the home are assessed. Contact family and friends/neighbours where possible. To carry out follow-up welfare checks and visits as required and assist service users with their activities to re-enable their daily living skills for up to the maximum support period. Provide practical and emotional support such as; mobility aids loans, transport, companionship, assistance with shopping, helping access to groups and activities Signpost to further support available; liaising with external organisations, partners and voluntary and community sector colleagues Adhere to policies and procedures regarding data protection and confidentiality Undertake any other relevant duties that may be required from time to time Willingness to work flexibly around the needs of the service To comply with client's Health & Safety policies including those on lone working, manual handling and infection control. To ensure that the highest standards are delivered which comply with Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements for those services that are CQC registered and with the client's Quality Standards framework. To ensure service users' health and wellbeing is preserved and safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
