Data Protection Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data Protection Officer to join a hardworking team within a Public Sector Body in the Nottinghamshire area. Due to an increase in workload and re structure in the team they are now looking for a permanent qualified and experience Data Protection officer. Key Duties of a Data Protection Officer-
• Lead on all areas associated with the statutory Data Protection Officer role, together with Freedom of Information
• Provide advice and respond to requests for information under all the relevant access to information legislations within a timely manner
• Deal with all GDPR matters, subject access requests, and assisting you team members in correct procedure for GDPR
• Maintain an awareness of possible changes to current legislation, introduction of new legislation, codes of practice and guidance
• Maintaining the Information Asset Register, undertaking Data Privacy Impact Assessments, developing data sharing and data processing agreements and ensuring appropriate privacy notices are created
• Investigate suspected and actual data breaches and implement remedial action with the support of the Business Manager and the councils Senior Information Risk Owner What you will need to be a successful Data Protection Officer-
• Working knowledge of information governance, knowledge management and records management and Access to Information legislation
• Experience of developing and implementing policies and procedures within the public sector
• Access to a car is required for meetings, different work locations etc
• Have a technical mindset to analyse data protection and processing issues in the context of complex IT systems
