Peabody are looking for Housing Support Workers based in Colchester .This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis. Inreturn we can offer a competitive salary of £19,080 per annum Sleep in (£73.89 per shift). Please note there is no personal care involved with this role. The Housing Support Workers role: Peabody are recruiting to full time, permanent Housing Support Worker positions at our young people's supported housing scheme in Colchester. The scheme provides support & accommodation to young people aged 16-21 years. The scheme operates 24 hours, 7 days a week, across 365 days per year (incl. weekends & bank holidays). Bernard Brett House provides support and accommodation for young people being referred through the Essex County Council gateway. The service accommodates and supports 16 & 17 years olds, Care leavers and some 18 to 21 years olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The staff team work within a rolling rota which includes 1-2 sleep in duties on average per week. Responsibilities of our Housing Support Workers: - Provide individualised support to tenants so that they are best able to benefit from the service being offered and are able to manage their lives more effectively and achieve personal goals. - Encourage tenants to participate and engage with staff support by being an excellent communicator, reliable, credible, empathetic and innovative in approach. - Assist tenants in adhering to the responsibilities of their tenancy and to any specific rules of the scheme. - Report illegal activity by tenants to the Manager and the Police if appropriate. - Minimise as far as possible conflict and confrontation within the service between tenants and visitors - Promote the integration of the tenants into the local community. - Provide opportunities by which tenants will be enabled to develop independent living skills. - Provide support and assistance to tenants in achieving their personal goals and aspirations. - Encourage tenants to recognise the benefits of additional support services related to their individual needs and assist them in accessing these services. - Encourage and support tenants to pursue social/recreational activities, training and employment opportunities. - Ensure that tenant participation, involvement and inclusion throughout the service. To ensure the tenant's views are sought and heard in relation to organisation and support issues. - Involve tenants in the decision making processes whereby individuals and groups take on responsibilities for themselves and others. - Provide basic welfare benefits advice, including referral to specialist welfare benefit advisors and liaison with benefit agencies as appropriate. - Be aware of the risks that tenants and service users pose to themselves and others and to follow the Risk Assessment and Management procedure.
