Senior Children's Support Worker

We are home to incredible young people , our role is to help develop them emotionally, socially and educate them. We are enthusiastic about making a positive impact on the young people that stay with us, many of them may have trouble with their emotions, something categorised as EBD - emotional behavioural disorder. It's easy for that to become a label. We never want any child to be thought as just a number, as every child in our care is special, unique and have their own set of challenges to face.... that's where you come in As a Senior support worker you will be responsible for helping look after the children in our care, we work with each child to provide them with individual and specific goals, whether that be education, care plans, life skills , learning how to be an adult and helping them transition into the world. A huge part of you'll do is be a friend to them, someone that listens and genuinely cares , you'll get involved with activities like taking them out to the shops, doctors' appointments, contact meetings with social services, maybe it's swimming lessons or just getting them out and about having fun You'll of course also work with your team of support workers, help them learn, grow and develop, the same as you did. You'll build strong relationships with the children which will put you in the position to help them deal with external agencies like social services, their families and other services that provide support. Of course you'll be a strong team player and set a good example - the best leaders always do As much as you'll help us look after our residents, we'll look after you . We are looking for people that are able to keep the young people engaged in both learning and more relaxed activities, whether its art, music, sport or a hobby that you're great at that can keep the young people engaged We'll be honest; it can be challenging when you're dealing with a teenager who's never been shown how to manage their emotions right or struggles to trust people, but with our training and your passion & empathy, we can truly improve the lives of young people What we need from you: - Drive to help improve the lives of young people - Desire to develop and learn new skills - Strong communication skills - The ability to be a great role model - Level 3 in childrens care is essential and experience in an EBD home - Driver - Essential Shifts, salary, benefits: - Shifts - 2/3 a week (16 hour shift 8 hour sleep-in ) - Occasional weekend shifts - Strong Progression Opportunities - we always look to promote within - NVQ training - as soon as your probation's finished we'll put you onto your level 3 and there's a pay increase when you get your level 3 - Salary £20,000 - £24/25,000 including sleep-ins - Pension - Benefits package Including discount on high street shops, cheap phone contracts and gym memberships.
