Applications Engineer

Together for a cleaner, healthier world. We are currently recruiting for an Applications Engineer to join our applications group based in our Clean Air Technology Centre in Royston, Hertfordshire. Working with a multi-disciplined team comprising Chemists and Engineers, you will be responsible for designing and running catalyst system test programmes using state-of-the-art laboratory, engine and vehicle test facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your scientific knowledge in the analysis and interpretation of complex engine and catalyst system performance data, in a unique and challenging environment. As well as being involved in the design and management of after-treatment evaluation programmes designed to meet tough future vehicle emissions and manufacturer requirements. • Organise testing programmes in laboratory, engine and vehicle testing facilities, liaise with development chemist and testing groups, provide detailed requirements to ensure that outcomes are in line with customer demands.
• Identify and implement test improvements; discuss improvements with relevant testing groups and technical specialists.
• Analyse, interpret and draw conclusions from test results, and disseminate key messages in a timely manner, both internally and externally.
• Share results across the business and to customers, through presentations, reports and verbally.
• Comply with and ensure all requirements of the HASAWA and its associated regulations are adhered to by the Diesel group to protect the health and safety of all staff and visitors. Are you the ideal candidate?
• Educated to a University Degree standard in Mechanical, Automotive, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent, or have an extensive experience in a relevant field.
• Engineering experience in an automotive / chemical industry, or a customer focussed environment is desirable.
• Hands-on practical approach, and highly innovative in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced technical report writing skills with proven project management and coordination skills.
• Proficiency in the interpretation and presentation of technical data to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrable ability to conduct root cause analyses and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
