Covance by Labcorp is a leading global drug development services company and we provide support to the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries. We are recruiting for our Early Development Unit in Huntingdon and are currently seeking to hire a Principal Investigator role to help support the Immunology & Immunotoxicology (I&I) team. This is a full time position with a permanent contract and is office based. The Principal Investigator (PI) in Immunology and Immunotoxicology (I&I) will have an overarching view of all aspects of acquisition, analysis, reporting and interpretation of I&I data. This senior position is responsible for establishing and maintaining the highest level of quality in data capture and interpretation and reporting, and provides advice and support to external and internal customers involved with I&I. The successful candidate will ideally have a recognized knowledge of the mechanisms of Immunology and Immunotoxicology as well as knowledge of key technologies such as flow cytometry, cell based in-vitro and ligand binding assays that drive this interpretation. Individual will have a responsibility to conduct work in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and specifically those regulations (e.g. GLP or GCP) specified in the study plans, protocols or working agreements governing the work in which they are involved. There is an extensive requirement to work with many other groups as part of the integrated Covance global strategy which will encompasses major divisions within the group. Working parties include colleagues from Harrogate, Muenster, Madison, Somerset, Greenfield, Shanghai and external investigator sites. Required profile: About You Be educated to degree level in biology and a PhD or postdoctoral background in immunology is preferred. Previous laboratory experience in drug discovery/research areas using I&I techniques Knowledge of drug discovery in the field of immunomodulatory compounds and their potential toxicity is preferred Knowledge and experience with GLP and GCP is preferred but not essential Previous experience in immunology and immunotoxicology is preferred Have excellent organizational and communication skills Ideally have previous experience with client interactions Technical expertise in immunology and immunotoxicology. Education/Qualifications : PhD preferred, or equivalent degree in immunology, immunotoxicology or related field, or Masters or Bachelor's degree in related discipline plus extensive years of laboratory experience preferred. Experience may be substituted for education. Experience: Extensive years of related experience preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education. Customer service skills. Skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and writing reports. Experience and knowledge of relevant instrumentation. Some experience in performing scientific presentation and preparing scientific publications. Prior experience in I&I procedures, method development, and validation preferred. Knowledge of GLP/GCP and regulatory agencies is preferred and advantageous Knowledge of instrument validation process. Ability to interact effectively with all staff and management levels. Problem solving and decision making skills. Strong written and communication skills. Knowledge of laboratory automation software, system software, and Microsoft applications.
