Specifications Technologist

Our client has an exciting new opportunity to join their Technical Support department in Corby to cover a 14 months fixed term contact as a Specifications Technologist. Our clients Technical Department is responsible for the successful control of all new and existing food-based products sold by the company, ensuring that they are produced within the appropriate regulatory environment and to customer and company specifications, towards the delivery of business plan objectives. As the Specifications Technologist you will contribute to the smooth running of the Technical Department and to provide specifications and other documents to both internal and external customers in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Create and maintain internal product and label specifications.
• Apply for product tariff codes and maintain tariff code information.
• Create new parts on IFS ERP system and make changes to product structures on the IFS ERP system for changes to packaging.
• Obtain and maintain information on purchased packaging items and packaging suppliers.
• Support the Senior Specifications Technologist in preparation of documents for product registration and import permits for export markets.
• Assist the QA department in creation of Certificates of Conformity for export markets.
• Assist the Technical administrator in obtaining information and maintenance of ingredient and ingredient supplier files.
• Work with the Technical administrator in applying for and maintaining Halal certifications.
• Assist in the preparation of documents required for Export Health Certificates.
• Input / cross check ingredient information on various models.
• Work with the QA department to prepare Material Information Sheets for Goods in / QA.
• Work within the requirements of the Food Safety Management System and assist in maintaining the companys certification to FSSC22000.
• To maintain departmental records ensuring that relevant data recorded is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
• To take part in training programmes as required. E.g., COSHH, manual handling etc.
• Promote and demonstrate the companys core values and behaviours The Candidate Abilities/Skills/Knowledge
• A food hygiene qualification is desirable.
• A HACCP qualification is desirable.
• Knowledge of food materials and packaging.
• Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment.
• Attention to and an eye for detail.
• Ability to work in a structured and methodical manner, thorough, pedantic.
• Good level IT skills, especially in Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally, good team worker.
• Confident communicator at all levels.
• Enthusiasm for personal development. Desirable
• Knowledge of food labelling requirements.
• Some knowledge of General Safety legislation (consumer products)
• Understanding of food safety management systems such as FSSC22000.
