Housing Support Worker (Full Time or Job Share)

Our client is a local charity who supports young people and families offering meaningful accommodation, training, health and wellbeing, and family support to make a difference in the lives of young people. This position will be ideal for one Full Time individual, however they have the flexibility to make this into 2 Part Time positions if required. Responsibilities for the Housing Support Worker: If this position is split into 2 Part Time roles, the duties will be split up via the below. The Full Time individual will complete all of the below duties. Engagement Worker (15 hours per week): This is the more engaging support worker side to the role. Provide a programme of positive activities for residents to acquire life skills such as: cooking, shopping, hygiene and basic home maintenance Ensure residents feel included in the needs, risk and planning of the service they receive Ensure the health and safety, security and well-being of service users, staff and visitors Implement individual support plans facilitating residents to lead in decisions about the support they receive Book time weekly with allocated residents moving from the status of recipients towards that of contributors Recognise tenant's abilities and skills and seek to encourage their development and use through asset based approaches Prepare with residents to move onto independent living Carry out room/property checks Work with residents to understand and adhere to the terms of their licence/tenancy agreement Support registering service users to the Housing Options Scheme Aid in any eviction process Housing Coordinator (22.5 hours per week): This is the more operational, financial side to the role. Undertake the effective operational delivery of housing management functions to tenants Ensure provision of a safe and secure environment through management of Health and Safety in the housing service Ensure collection of rental income within agreed targets Undertake tenancy sign ups and induction into the service Complete pre and post void inspections, void turnarounds and end of tenancy procedures Respond to antisocial behaviour by preparing restorative meetings and applying possession procedures Undertake housing background checks on prospective tenants Fire alarm testing, planned evacuations and other checks Undertake cashing up, banking and replenishing of petty cash Person Specification: Recent experience of working in a support or housing setting with vulnerable people with support needs Knowledge of housing legislation including tenancy management Knowledge of Intensive Housing Management activities including rent collection and tenancies You must hold a full driving licence and have own transport Ability to undertake needs and risk assessment, safety and support planning Good understanding of safeguarding frameworks for children and young people Able to respond to anti-social behaviour and breaches of tenancy Strong communication and interpersonal skills A friendly, knowledgable and supportive approach Able and willing to work unsocial hours Terms of Role: Full Time, 37.5 hours a week or Part Time, 22.5 hours ( Housing Coordinator ) or 15 hours ( Engagement Worker ) per week Pay is £10.78 per hour for the Engagement Worker duties and£9.18 for the Housing Coordinator duties Participating in a 7 day a week rota between the hours of 07:45am - 10:15pm Closing date: Monday 12 th April 2021 at 9am This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/92286801
