Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Senior Infrastructure Engineer | Up to 40k | Nottingham Want to join a small, collaborative team as their main problem solver? Somewhere you can really own the environments & affect positive change in a growing business? The infrastructure team you'll join is very small - it's the Head of IT, a Senior Engineer and a 1st Line chap....and that Senior Engineer is you. Your role will be looking after 2nd & 3rd line queries, plus supporting the Head of IT on project work. You won't be looking after 1st line tickets - the 1st line chap will look after that - but all escalations will come to you & you will be the final escalation point. It's a small business so you'll only be supporting around 70 users across 2 sites, with your main day job involving things like daily tickets (checking servers, backups etc), spinning up VM environments, attending the daily stand up etc. and additional project work. As they are essentially a software business, over half of the users are tech functions like development, data, operations etc - so as part of your role you'll be managing their environments up to the OS and managing relationships with the server owners to patch & manage devices. There's also an impressive portfolio of IT projects planned for the next 2 years for you to get your teeth stuck into, including a move from on-prem to the cloud which you'll join at the very start of. You'll have some form of qualifications like MCSE or MCSA, or maybe MCP, and you'll be working with Windows Servers (up to 2019) & related techs like IIS, DNS, DHCP etc. Plus Active Directory, O365, Azure and/or AWS, VMWare, SCCM, LAN/WAN, Veeam & SQL. My personal favourite thing about this role is that THERE'S NO ONCALL - you'll basically work 9-5 If there is any work that needs doing on an ad-hoc basis (eg. Data centre type work out of hours) then you will get the time back in lieu. It's unlikely you'll need to do much though as you'll have your 1st line support colleague who deals with patching etc so there won't be many occasions when you'll be called out. The role is based in Nottingham 2/3 days per week (as required) and the rest can be done from home, so you'll need to be able to commute to the Central Nottingham office a couple of days per week, and occasionally the London-based data centre.
