Lead Speech and Language Advisor Home-Based (with travel for delivery) Salary: £49,400-£52,000 per annum (depending on experience) I CAN is the children's communication charity, and our vision is a world where all children have the communication skills they need to fulfil their potential. Serving children and families for 130 years, I CAN today consists of two special schools, Meath School (Surrey) and Dawn House School (East Midlands); a social enterprise that develops and distributes a wide range of materials, training packages and interventions across the nation; the I CAN Help portfolio of information and advice for parents, carers and practitioners; and is the host for The Communication Consortium of 35 organisations in the field of communication. I CAN's mission is that no child should be left out or left behind because of a difficulty speaking or understanding. This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a rare opportunity to recruit a Lead Speech and Language Advisor who will have a key role in leading aspects of our project portfolio and building I CAN's profile as the go to Children's Communication Charity. The post will involve leading the delivery of some specific projects including the evaluation of a new resource for pupils in year 7. There will also be the opportunity to develop bids for new pieces of work and to work closely with our Social Enterprise on the development of our business model for reaching wider audiences. The postholder will be responsible for line management of Speech and Language Advisors in the team. We are seeking a skilled speech and language specialist who has project management experience and is used to engaging with strategic partners at a high level to achieve shared outcomes. We are particularly keen for the postholder to have expertise in working with older children / young people in the secondary phase and experience in delivering training, both online and face to face. Line management experience and a sound understanding of the principles of audit and evaluation are essential to this role. As we are a national charity, we are keen to hear from possible candidates who are England based as that is where our funded activity is taking place. Your CV should be accompanied by a personal statement of no more than 2 sides of A4 detailing: Your knowledge and qualifications to undertake the role, any relevant professional body you belong to, including membership of the RCSLT (if you are a speech and language therapist), your passion for our cause and whether you have a current DBS check. The extent of your knowledge, awareness and experience of speech, language and communication needs and both strategic solutions as well as direct interventions across a range of children's age groups but with particular expertise in the secondary sector. Your track record in developing compelling bids and leading, delivering and evaluating contracts and programmes of work to high quality. Your experience of collaborating with partners, wider teams and of managing resources, both directly as line manager and indirectly in managing programmes of work. Your experience of developing and delivering tailored training to other professional audiences with a responsibility for children's development. Does this sound like you?
