Our digital, technical and data capabilities are something to be proud of, and we recognise there's still more to be done Our Data and Pricing team provides value in showcasing the business how to monetise data, we are a team of 45 BI, Pricing and Data Science analytical professionals working with every corner of our commercial business. This role sits in the Data Science team. The Data Science team provides insights, products and services to internal / external stakeholders from partnerships, insurers, customer insight, digital, marketing and call centre teams. This is a great springboard opportunity for you to start your career in Data Science, you don't have to be a qualified analyst, we'll provide you with the relevant technical training around our data stack and more, all we ask is that you're naturally inquisitive, passionate about problem solving and data, and view it as a vocation. You'll fit right into our environment with likeminded peers. As part of your Data Science career you will be expected to develop and understand a wide range of modern statistical, machine learning and data science methods. This knowledge will be applied to a wide range of business problems, adding demonstrable commercial value. Our role will suit if you're one or all the following: - A recent graduate/apprentice/work experience data enthusiast with strong numeracy skills looking for a window of opportunity to grow your vocation and career - You love to tinker with data in your own time and, and possibly dabble in novice coding - Enjoy talking about data and translating the technical jargon into everyday consumption for friends/peers - Experimenting with modelling techniques and new analytical approaches in your own time or in a previous role - Enjoy change and challenging the status quo What you can expect to be working on: - Within the first 6 months you will be creating actionable business insight from our SQL data warehouse. You will be supporting data product builds using Python and R. - By the end of your first year you will be competent in Python and R programming, will have undertaken at least one machine learning project and started to create a network of stakeholders. - By month 24 you will have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of data products e.g. Fraud, Claims, Debt, Digital personalisation. You will be skilled in Python (including real time coding), R, and SQL. Through development conversations you will be able to choose your own career, becoming one of our Data Scientists / Consultants to support the future growth of the business.
