Your Impact: About the opportunity To meet our growing UK business needs and development aspirations we are recruiting an experienced River Engineer to join our thriving team in Peterborough. You will take a senior role in the technical and commercial delivery of river engineering, canal restoration, fish pass design, drainage, environmental improvement and flood risk management projects for clients in major public and private sector organisations With a passion for delighting our clients you will ensure that our engineering solutions meet their needs and exceed their expectations feeding in ideas to improve and enhance our market leading designs. With excellent communication skills, you will have a genuine interest in finding creative and innovative ideas and the hunger to extend your own skills and knowledge in the flood risk sector. With plenty of hands on experience in delivery of successful river engineering solutions you will be ready for the next career challenge in taking a leadership role in developing client relationships and growing our business across both private and public sector clients. You will work with clients and Jacobs teams at a senior level in projects and in R&D activities. You will provide leadership through technical and commercial project governance and mentoring of future business leaders. Responsibilities: Operational and Technical Leadership Develop and review delivery strategies at bid stage Ensure the project is delivered to cost, quality and time requirements Ensure the adoption of best-practice project management tools, processes and techniques Ensure that project risks are identified, documented and managed, including monthly reviews of projects and project portfolios Audit of compliance with safety, health, environment quality (SHEQ) requirements and of remedial actions Promote global delivery, innovation, value management, continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and sustainable solutions Client Management and Reputation Build and maintain relationships of trust with key client personnel Obtain and act on client feedback and survey results People Leadership Provide overall leadership to the project team Ensure the compliance with business integrity policies within Jacobs partners and the supply chain Monitor and enhance satisfaction of staff in the project team Act as a role model for collaborative working with other project directors and senior managers Mentor project managers and others in developing their careers in project management/leadership Commercial Leadership Manage project profitability, capital employed and cash flow Minimise risks wherever possible Ensure efficient use of resources and assets to deliver the project About you With expertise in the field of River Engineering and experience of delivery and team management you are comfortable in a local leadership role and you want to have input to strategic decisions that affect the team in your region. You strive for excellence and want to join an already high performing team and contribute to continual improvement in delivery. You are highly experienced in producing a wide range of deliverables and reviewing and overseeing complex pieces of work. You are keen to be involved in a role that allows you to drive commercially viable and excellent delivery through innovation. You are involved in developing the business and take responsibility for identifying and targeting new clients and projects and you lead and coordinated complicated and large tenders. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the following: Customer Focus Situational Adaptability Strategic Mindset Resilience Drives vision & purpose Cultivates Innovation A Global Mindset and demonstrated ability to work across cultures and remotely with our Global Integrated Delivery teams Here's What You'll Need: Experience of successfully directing multi-million pound projects Knowledge and experience of structured project management methodologies Client relationship management experience at a senior, strategic level Experienced in delivering design commissions with contractors Strong leadership capabilities Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline Chartered with ICE or CIWEM An inclusive leader who works effectively as part of a diverse team Demonstrable knowledge of developing client relationships to develop new opportunities Extensive experience of quality assurance and technical leadership Experienced in solution development and ability to develop, price and agree scope of services plus leading and winning tender opportunities Experienced in technical coordination of multi-disciplinary teams Highly experienced in writing and reviewing technical reports and adept in conveying key messages in a simple and clear manner from complex technical documentation Highly effective mentoring and training skills to develop and support junior staff. Excellent presentation skills with experience of presenting to existing and potential clients, to regulators and stakeholders on behalf of clients, at meetings, within working teams and at conferences. Ideally, here's what you'll also have: APM Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2 Practitioner Masters degree or doctorate in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Project management qualification (e.g. APM or PRINCE2) Established relationships with the relevant statutory bodies e.g. Environment Agency. Experienced in leading and winning new tender opportunities, writing proposals and estimating costs, including for new services and offerings Expert Witness experience Hold a valid UK driving licence Why Jacobs?
