Trainee CAD Engineer

Overview: Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Trainee Design engineer to join our team in Harlow. The role will include working alongside experienced designers and project managers to gain an understanding within the fire protection industry. All necessary training will be given to the candidate selected. It is a great opportunity for anyone interested in following a career path in CAD or Design engineering. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on various projects throughout London and across the rest of the UK. About Us: Established in 1986, Select Fire Services was set up as a company specialising as sub-contractors to the sprinkler industry. Within a couple of years, the company had gained a reputation for supplying a quality service and our client base steadily increased. We began to undertake larger contracts, which would include system design as well as fabrication and installation. Our servicing and maintenance department was formed in 1989 and, with the founded reputation of the company, immediately began to prosper. Our fully trained engineers have the background knowledge that has helped in the continual expansion of the department. The Role:
• Working with project managers to prepare and complete bespoke fire protection drawings utilizing various CAD software. These are to be completed to relevant standards. Necessary training will be given to achieve this.
• The completion of hydraulic calculations.
• Coordination with other building services via direct communication with external design team members.
• Surveying for design and installation purposes.
• The completion of relevant documentation such as RAMS, Method statements and drawing scheduling. Requirements:
• A self-motivated individual with a keen interest in Building services/Design engineering.
• Strong communication and presentational skills.
• Good attention to detail is essential for accuracy as well as to meet deadlines.
• Experience in 2D AutoCAD as well as REVIT is desirable but not essential as it will be taught on the job.
• A basic knowledge of the construction industry and general practices would be beneficial.
• Great IT skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
• 2 or more A levels, ideally one within an engineering/mathematical background would be beneficial. What we can offer:
