Job Description - Quantity surveyor either freelance or Employed The Role An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Organisation with a sizeable secured workload. Working for a Contractor/Developer as part of a small Team on a variety of Projects ranging in value from £1m - £10m. Works sector is principally Residential Apartments and Housing, Healthcare & Industrial. Experience in these sectors would be an advantage but not essential. The Candidate - Quantity Surveyor We are looking for an Intermediate Level trained Quantity Surveyor who is looking to progress and make the next step in their career. The Candidate will be Degree (or equivalent - Quantity Surveying) educated &, ideally progressing or be RICS qualified, though not essential & with 3 - 5 years experience of working on live Projects. The Role will be mainly Site based, working closely with the Project Manager as part of the Project delivery Team. Key Accountabilities Duties to include, ? Interpret Architects/Engineers Designs & ability to take off quantities for the purposes of the preparation & issuing of enquiry Documents to Sub Contractors & Suppliers. ? Evaluate & assess Quotations upon receipt for the purposes of cost comparison/best value. ? Preparation and issue of Contractual letters to Employers and / or Sub Contractors, as required. ? Represent Contractor at Monthly Project Progress Meetings including the preparation & presentation of a Commercial Report. ? Sub Contract negotiation and letting/administering of Orders ? Manage Sub Contract Procurement process including maintaining a data base. ? Preparation and submission of interim Applications for Payment ? Management of Sub Contractor Accounts ? Site measurement/records ? Prepare & maintain Project Cashflow Forecast Reports for the Employer. ? Prepare and maintain Project Cash Position Reports (Income/Outgoing) for Senior Management. ? Prepare and maintain Project Cost/Value Reports for Senior Management. ? Prepare and maintain Project Cost Forecasts for Senior Management. ? Manage, value & submit variations to the Employer ? Agreement and certification of Sub Contractors interim valuations and final accounts ? Preparation and submission of Final Accounts to the Employer. Personal Qualities - Quantity Surveyor ? Good working knowledge of Forms of Contract currently used within the Building and Civil Engineering industry ? Good working knowledge of standard forms of measurement. NRM2 and CESMM3 ? Clean Driving licence ? Good IT skills - particularly Word and Excel ? Excellent communication skills - Electronic & personal. ? Self motivated & able to work within a Team or using own initiative with minimal Supervision. ? Commercially astute. ? Ability to manage/multitask activities / Projects simultaneously requiring good Time Management skill. ? Strong character for dealing directly with Employers and the Design Team/Consultants ? Good negotiator ? Flexibility with regard to working across all areas of the business, and hours to meet the requirements of this challenging position. Competencies: ?
