About the role Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our Water business unit to work in Peterborough. Role Purpose: The Process Engineer will work in collaboration with the project design team to arrive at appropriate process solutions adopting the principles of optimised plant performance, use of standard designs and following one engineering design standards. What you'll be doing As a Process Engineer you will: Process design of Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants and/or sewerage/water systems that achieve the goals of Anglian Water in terms of customer, environment and efficiency. This will incorporate modelling results where required; Responsibility for the quality of their work and contributing to the overall effectivenesss of the team; Ensures that the principles of process safety are incorporated in all designs including consideration of LOPA and DSEAR; Comply with POSWSH/POSWASTE; Collaborate with the design team to develop 3D models and solutions; Process calculations, hydraulics, unit processes, pump calcs, capacity calculations; Data sheets; Technical bid analysis of 3rd party process equipment; Support the Process Discipline Head in the drive towards excellence in H&S, demonstrating applied knowledge & skills to produce safe designs to discharge your obligation according to CDM Regulations, standards and accepted codes of practice; Ensure all technical work is undertaken to the correct standards & specifications. Ensure the requirements of MAS are adhered to & offer challenge when applicable; Be responsible for maintaining your own quality and consistency of all process engineering technical documents; Work with the relevant lead team members to ensure that all technical deliverables are properly checked and approved; Communicate effectively at all relevant levels to ensure that the need to deliver technical excellence is understood and implemented. Escalate issues that may impact on time/cost/quality to the Technical Manager before they become problems or exceed agreed timescales; Maintain close links with other Engineers & the Discipline Head to ensure smooth interfaces between disciplines, manage gaps/overlaps & share best practice; Liaise closely with Technical Managers within the programme area to provide technical guidance and explore opportunities for out-performance from technical innovation. Who we're looking for Personal Qualities and Experience: Educated to degree level in water/wastewater process science/engineering related subject; Have a relevant postgraduate qualification such as CIWEM or a relevant MSc; Member of a professional body; Experience of process engineering; Demonstrable experience in water/wastewater and biosolids treatment; Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills; Strong IT skills; Proven problem solving capability. Based in Peterborough, with good transport links from Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland, the roles include all engineering disciplines, quantity surveyors, project delivery managers plus many more. About us Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group has been a member of Anglian Waters one Alliance since 2004, delivering several major water projects. The one Alliance is a collaborative organisation of consultants and contractors working together to deliver more than half of Anglian Waters capital investment programme. The Anglian Water one Alliance will design and build around 800 schemes worth approximately 1.5billion between April 2020 and March 2025, known as AMP7 the current five-year investment period, working closely with Anglian Water operations teams and other key stakeholders. The contract is for the entire five-year regulatory period, from 2020 to 2025, with extensions which could take it to 2030, making it one of the longest collaborations in the sector. It operates within an alliance of delivery partners set up by Anglian Water. As a stakeholder within the Anglian Water one Alliance, Balfour Beatty provide both design and construction services across the whole of Anglian Waters region, which is the largest by geographic area in the UK, stretching from the Humber to the Thames estuary and from Buckinghamshire to the East Coast. Work is mainly focussed on clean water Infrastructure (water mains), but also includes wastewater infrastructure and both water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects, such as treatment works and pumping stations.
