Patent Attorney

Vacancy: Patent Attorney Location: UK Flexible Job Family: Legal Job Purpose: For the Clean Air business, help to maximise the value obtained from its investment in R&D by managing and protecting the intellectual property which arises from such R&D, managing exposure to risks from third party IP. Key responsibilities Understanding commercial needs of the business and providing IP solutions to support those needs. Understanding relevant technologies, products, and markets, and managing and prosecuting the business's global patent portfolio. Independently drafting new patent applications for relevant technologies, and working with the technology teams to actively identify new filing opportunities. Independently preparing invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom to operate opinions and/or managing external preparation of such opinions as necessary. Monitoring and advising on third party IP-related activity relevant to the business. Advising on, filing and conducting post-grant procedures to attack third party rights and/or defend JM rights, instructing external counsel where appropriate. Ensuring compliance of the business with the IP Management Policy. Providing IP training to internal customers, including scientists, commercial managers, and corporate lawyers. Assisting more senior members of the team in providing advice on IP provisions in commercial agreements and drafting such provisions where necessary. Assisting more senior members of the team in drafting and negotiating IP agreements, such as NDAs, MTAs, consultancy agreements, research agreements etc. Assisting more senior members of the team in advising on IP aspects of M&A and technology licensing activities affecting the business. Assisting with IP-related litigation as necessary. Are you the ideal candidate? Qualification as a Chartered Patent Attorney and as a European Patent Attorney or close to completion. Post Qualification Experience would be desirable. Experience in post-grant procedures before EPO would be desirable. Background in Chemistry or Material Science. Excellent communication skills for both face-to-face and remote interactions, able to communicate effectively across different cultures and at all levels (including scientists, commercial managers and external lawyers and foreign associates in many different countries) How to apply If you have the necessary skills and experience to join our team, please apply online.
