Automation Engineer

A globally operating precision engineering company are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their manufacturing plant in Nottinghamshire. This role of Senior Automation Engineer will see you managing an Automation Technician and being part of the global automation team. In this hands-on role you will be working from initial concepts, testing though to build and final install / commissioning on a variety of projects. The site heavily uses CNC machines and so projects will be based around material loading, unloading, quality checking systems, and post CNC process additional work as well as material movement around the site. Knowledge of CNC machines would be advantageous, but if not a good solid all round knowledge on automation would be required. This would include pneumatics, hydraulics, electrics, and PLC / HMI controls. Ability to use CAD is also required. This is a very interesting position as you will be given full responsibility to manage the projects from start to finish and consult with internally sourcing teams or suppliers directly. Although predominantly UK based, you will in the future have the opportunity to work with the global automation team on automation projects around the world as well as visiting trade shows for new ideas and technologies. Ideally you hold a Degree in Engineering with equivalent automation experience (subjects are open to mechanical, electrical, robotics or manufacturing engineering etc), but they will also consider HNC/HND`s or similar level qualifications in the same fields. CAD knowledge and capabilities PLC and HMI knowledge and programming skills Reading and understanding mechanical and electrical schematics.
