Design Engineer

Design Engineer Up to £38/hr - Inside IR35 Peterborough/WFH - Hybrid 12 month initial contract Off Highway - Machines A new and exciting opportunity for a design engineer with responsibility to co-ordinate and deliver component and system designs and as well as top level machine configuration activities. This innovative team is responsible for developing novel engineering solutions and processes working collaboratively with European Universities, internal and industrial partners as well as will our US based sister team. The team leads the powertrain research strategy and delivery within Europe, this includes global research responsibility for electrification and hybridisation systems integration and control. Key Responsibilities Creating integrated solutions for powertrain systems. Implementing design and integration ideas, machine configuration and design in accordance with applicable design guides and standards. Working with suppliers and external partners to develop component and system solutions. Managing BOM for multiple system and/or machine builds and managing build issues. Self-management of assigned tasks to agreed customer critical requirements, delivering high quality work to documented or novel processes within agreed timescales. Close liaison with performance and mechanical development engineers, component designers and project teams. Evaluate and Promote new products and processes. Experience Requires an accredited engineering degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience, analytical skills, and a track record of developing challenging new ideas and concepts, ideally with experience in industrial or off-highway machines Candidates must: Be an expert user of Creo (Pro/e) for modelling and detailing; ideally with experience in cabling and harnessing, electrical insulation and off highway machine design. Have experience of working with PLM tools for developing large assemblies of engines or whole machine design (eg Teamcenter Visualization Mockup ) Be proficient in detailed component design. Independently collaborate with peers, suppliers, and process partners. (ie supply chain, logistics, purchasing, other engineering teams, etc) on a worldwide basis. Demonstrate appreciation of APQP Tools, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis and DVP&R. Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturability considerations. Have the ability to take the lead in technical discussions, to specify component requirements and to understand the interactions which influence system and machine performance.
