Head of Community Response

Here at the Coal Authority, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Community Response to join our team.You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £49,181.40 - £60,110.60 per annum. As our Head of Community Response , you'll play a critical and leading part in our role as a modern, resilient and 24/7 incident and emergency response organisation, using first-class incident preparation, readiness, response and recovery. You will be at the forefront of improving our access to and engagement with key audiences - to raise proactive awareness of mining-related safety issues and support our operations teams and bring to life why we do what we do as an organisation, through creating and delivering projects and programmes. You'll also help with horizon scanning and issues management, providing first-class strategic counsel to the Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team and other parts of the business. Responsibilities of our Head of Community Response : - Inspire and lead the team to proactively develop insight-led and effective community engagement strategies, programmes and tactics to support business objectives - Think ahead, anticipate, engage proactively and take initiative and provide timely and expert strategic counsel to the business - Lead community response and engagement before, during and after incidents - providing an effective, multi-team, incident response - Build and maintain a deep understanding of the dynamic issues landscape affecting the Coal Authority to effectively prepare for and mitigate potential crisis situations - Build and maintain strong relationships with other Coal Authority teams, such as Business Intelligence and Customer Services, to align community response strategies and activities - Develop strong working relationships with key external partners, including counterparts in BEIS, the devolved nations, local authorities and key media contacts - Advise and lead on media skill development for members of the Executive Leadership Team and senior management - Develop and implement creative and engaging proactive national and regional programmes on key safety topics, using all relevant channels and opportunities to amplify our messages - Embed a culture of creativity, innovation and continuous improvement across the team, including keeping ahead of digital developments and running regular incident training exercises to refine plans - Ensure insight and evaluation play a key role in the delivery of all activity, with strong prioritisation, planning and project management, continually assessing output against objectives - Own and maintain briefings on all key topics - Due to the nature of the role, some out of hours work may be required What we're looking for in our Head of Community Response : - Educated to degree-level or equivalent - Extensive experience in managing high-performing teams at the forefront of fast-moving incidents and issues - Consistent track record in delivering first-class engagement to engage audiences, build trust, change behaviour and deliver strategic outcomes across a wide range of different channels - Track record in developing and delivering effective external engagement plans and strategies - A high level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and digital (including social media) Closing date: Friday 3rd September 2021 If you believe you are the right candidate for the role as our Head of Community Response then please click 'apply' now We'd love to hear from you.
