The Opportunity As our new Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for procurement operations within the Network or Central function you are aligned to. You will identify future opportunities; to drive commercial value through sourcing and ongoing contract management activities. This will involve engaging and building strong working relationships with stakeholders to identify business needs and a core understanding of the supply chains and market offerings, to ensure best for task solutions for Cadent. The role holder will be accountable for end to end management of their portfolio including sourcing and contract management. Working with stakeholders to understand and challenge demand, set sourcing strategy, deliver events from market engagement through to award and drive value through contract management. For those roles aligned to a Network Commercial team the role holder will be the central point for procurement and contract management expertise within their network. Working with operational colleagues to identify and develop a procurement plan for their network, covering sourcing and contract management as well as supply chain development and related activities. They will utilise the resources within their team effectively to deliver the plan and agreed outcomes. What we ask of you
• Develop and deliver portfolio and sourcing strategies
• Profile the supply chain through supplier research and market trends to assess future contract risks and opportunities
• Drive value by effectively delivering tender events for services, works and/or products
• Lead engagement of stakeholders both internally and externally
• Proactively manage contracts within the portfolio, ensuring contract issues are resolved effectively
• Be responsible for ensuring compliance with sourcing and contract management frameworks
• Build and maintain effective supplier relationships
• Develop supply chains to meet support outcomes
• Plan and resolve any contract performance issues
• Scope and develop contractual agreements
• Lead supplier relationship management and contract relationship management activities
• Support the implementation of procurement and contract management change initiatives
• Monitor supplier service level and cost performance through KPIs
• Analyse and forecast inventory levels and manage stock obsolescence, where appropriate
• Provide cost and commercial control across Cadent activities
• Ensure contract payments and claims are within contract terms
• Undertake benchmarking to ensure Cadent's arrangements and Contractor costs remain competitive
• Ensure that the terms and conditions on which contracts are awarded are in line with Cadent risk profile and legal framework What You'll Bring Essential Requirements :
• Educated to Degree level, or have equivalent experience in a Commercial/procurement discipline
• Valid UK driving licence Desirable:
• Experience of strategic sourcing and other procurement activities
• Experience in contract managing a portfolio of suppliers
• Good understanding of cost management and commercial principles
• Experience in leading and negotiating in supplier meetings
• Experience of analysing and presenting data to inform sourcing/contract decisions
• A good understanding of contract drafting principles and experience in contract development
• Experience in sourcing and managing different forms of contracts/framework agreements
• Experience in supporting process improvements to improve the customer experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• An understanding of EU and Utility Procurement Directives (ideally supported by evidence of running a competitive compliant tender process)
• Effective relationship building skills
• Lots of initiative and influencing skills to deliver new commercial solutions to the organisation
