Service Accountant

Service Accountant Location: Norwich Salary: £32,910 - £35,745 per annum This is an exciting time for our client. The council have a five year, £250m capital programme, including £25 million of Towns' Deal funding. This will drive forward inclusive economic and productivity growth in Norwich. They are also excited about having £71 million to deliver new social housing. Furthermore, the Council has an ambition to deliver almost 1000 new affordable homes over the next 15 years, whilst maintaining and upgrading our 15,800 existing assets. The council are therefore seeking to appoint a Service Accountant, working both at City Hall and from home (laptop provided) to provide professional advice and to challenge budget holders and senior managers across the Council. You will act as a business partner with capital budget managers; providing financial insight and advice to support decision making. With experience of local government financial management, you'll have a proactive approach, providing support for financial planning, scenario modelling and budget forecasting. You will also be key in the closure of the accounts and will need to be able to work on your own initiative in a fast-paced environment. You should have full AAT or full/part CCAB (or impressive equivalent experience). They'd love to hear from you if you have experience of accounting for grants or planning obligations (CIL/Section 106) but these areas of experience are not critical. To thrive, you will need to build relationships quickly with a wide range of colleagues and partner organisations, strong MS Excel skills, an ease with conflicting work demands and a focus on strict deadlines and targets.
