Business Development Manager

Job Title: Business Development Manager Reporting To: General Manager Location: Thetford, Norfolk. This newly created role will be to proactively build and develop prospects to win new business and enhance the company brand and drive sales. The individual will be responsible for the creation, development and implementation of the business development strategy and business plan. This role is based in the UK but on occasions will require international travel. The initial activity will be in the UK developing new clients nationally and working with a number of European businesses to take the products to market. Your first couple of months will be working through an induction getting to know the business, products, processes, and people. During this period, you could be based/working from Thetford 3 to 4 days a week after your induction is complete you will be customer facing and be out in the field 3 to 4 days a week and then either working from the Thetford office or home office the remaining days. Job Duties
• Take a proactive role to identify new business areas and revenue streams
• Establish, build and maintain relationships with customers, discovering and exploring potential revenue growth opportunities.
• Build a solid pipeline of sales opportunities through new clients
• Identify and secure high margin new business in line with the agreed business development approach, enabling us to meet our plan for generating new business as well as contributing to our overall performance against business plan.
• To build an excellent understanding of the marketplace and the competitors within that space
• Effectively measure and communicate sales performance focusing on targets, opportunities, conversion rates, reasons for loss of sales, margins, up selling and cross selling.
• Build an advanced product knowledge
• Research / generate new business leads / sales
• Attend on-site client sales visits when required
• Carry out client surveys demonstrations as and when required
• Provide weekly/monthly report on activities and financial performance Education & Experience: The individual will preferably be able to demonstrate relevant successful Sales / Business Development Management experience within the business to business / construction industry or similar. The individual will be able to demonstrate sound business acumen and commercial skills, with a record of consistently achieving sales targets. An interest in technology/engineered products and systems for industrial applications is essential. Personal Specification: The individual must be presentable and have a consultative approach to sales / business development. Someone that build relationships quickly and gains the confidence of the client. A personable, professional and business-like manner is necessary, together with a strong desire to achieve key objectives and targets. The job holder must be totally committed to the Business Development role and be willing to travel throughout the United Kingdom and Internationally on occasions. Excellent communication/presentation skills both verbal and written coupled with a good working knowledge of Word and Excel are essential. Ability to understand working drawings a distinct advantage.
