Electronics Hardware Design Engineer

My client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of innovative instrumentation and machinery serving a wide range of industries. They are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join their in-house Engineering Team at their busy manufacturing site in Royston, Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of industrial electronic hardware. This will include creating schematic diagrams, multi-layer PCB layouts and making working prototypes. Additional key responsibilities of this role will include: Producing hardware designs for industrial applications (Block diagrams, Schematics, PCB artwork and BOMs). Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards and meet the requirements of the design specification. Producing technical information for manufacturing partners and service teams. Resolving design related problems with in-house manufacturing departments, sub-contractors and suppliers. Producing manufacturing test process. Chairing hardware design meetings. Maintaining an archive of electronic design data. Ensuring all development projects are to be delivered to an agreed project plan, on time and to budget. Evaluating testing of new designs prior to release for production. Applications are invited from experienced Electronics Design Engineers and Hardware Engineers with previous industry experience of analogue and digital electronics engineering. We are also able to consider recent graduates with relevant industrial experience (i.e. through an industrial placement year) although this will be reflected in the salary we are able to offer. In addition, candidates should have the following: Degree qualified or equivalent in electronics engineering or relevant technical discipline. Experience of using Electronic Design Automation tools (MetorGraphic is desirable but training can be offered). Understand and manipulate 2D/3D electronic CAD models. Experience in Analogue and Digital electronics design theory. Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and analytical skill. Experience of signal integrity and high speed signalling, power supplies, communication buses, power electronics, peripheral interfacing would be beneficial. Experience in using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) design tools for design, simulation, synthesis and verification. As a part of this role you will on occasion be required to travel overseas when necessary to resolve technical issues and for personal develop training within other parts of this global organisation, so a passport is essential.
