Head of Technology and Engineering

Position: Head of Technology and Engineering Hours: 37.5 hours per week Location: NG13 - Hybrid working Salary: up to £90,000 dependant on experience This is a senior management position but requires somebody who is hands on and involved in the day to day goings on. Previous experience as a software engineer is not essential though desirable - but a thorough understanding of technology, development processes, agile and resource allocation is.This role is principally focussed on the development and deployment of our existing technical skillset rather than overlaying technical expertise. Responsibilities:
• Build and manage software engineering teams focussing on improving working practices and culture.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the team, setting goals, mentoring and creating an environment for the team to deliver their best work.
• Implement and work with digital methodologies (agile, CI/CD, user-centric design and product delivery).
• Support the senior engineers in designing software architecture, especially in conjunction with product-centric approaches and Domain Driven Design
• Inform and influence stakeholders and peers about the trade-offs, implications and impact to sustainable delivery arising from compromising quality and accumulating technical debt.
• Create and scale cloud-based systems delivered by multiple teams.
• Have a deep familiarity with a wide range of technical areas, including: modern software development, test-driven development and other core agile technical practices, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, DevOps approaches and techniques, data standards, privacy, and strategy, cloud services and operations, complex legacy migrations and security.
