Learning Support Assistant

Connex Education are working with a large, oversubscribed secondary school based in West Bridgford who are seeking to recruit passionate and motivated graduates from all academic disciplines to join them to support as a learning assistant, joining their close knit team of support staff in the academy. As a learning support assistant, you will show initiative and a drive to help students succeed by supporting them in the classroom, either in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis, in a variety of subjects. In this role you will assist students with completing their work and help the class teacher promote a positive and successful learning environment, helping to keep students on task and engaged with the subject. Many of the pupils you work with will fall in to the SEND category so experience working with students who have autism, ADHD, SEMH needs and/or physical disabilities will be a great advantage. On some occasions you may be required to work as a cover supervisor and take the class where the teacher is absent; in this instance you will be handing out pre-set work or running a pre-set lesson to the class and manging student's behaviour to ensure the goals of the lesson are reached. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable, paid experience in schools which will assist you should you wish to apply for teacher training in the future.
