Job Description

ASSISTANT TOWN CLERK TO MARCH TOWN COUNCIL

Part-time post of approximately 17 hours per week over Monday and Wednesday and also Friday mornings*

Pay in line with NALC rates, SLCC Spinal Column Point 12, currently £13.73/hour plus pension scheme.

*Flexibility will be considered for the right candidate if the Town Council’s business needs can be met in so doing.

Post is based at The Town Hall, March and involves assisting the Town Clerk and ensuring the efficient running of the Town Council offices.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED;

- Good standard of general education, preferably to ‘A’ level

- Experience of local government highly desirable

- Good verbal and written skills

- Good people skills and telephone manner

- Computer literate – ideally full Microsoft office suite

- Excellent administrative and housekeeping skills, experience in taking minutes, highly organised and able to work under pressure

- Ability to work on own initiative

- Ability to balance a varied workload

- Able to attend monthly meetings on a Monday evening and work additional hours if required by the Town Clerk

- Has an interest in local issues
