CANINE HYDROTHERAPIST JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Canine Hydrotherapist

Job Purpose: To help Canine patients by clinically assessing the patients needs, documenting, and delivering a clinically reasoned treatment plan. Continually assess, monitor and amend to meet the needs of the patient. Ensure the dogs welfare is put first at all time and update, guide and support their owners by providing relevant information, products, services and assistance. Ensure regular dialogue with the referring Veterinary Surgeon throughout the treatment in line with Canine Hydrotherapy Association Quality Standards. Canine Hydrotherapist

Job Duties:

• Verifies Veterinary/Client information by interviewing the dog owner; recording medical details; highlighting the benefits of treatment applying a multi modal approach i.e. Physiotherapy/Acupuncture, where clinical reasoning dictates. Where necessary a conversation will be held with the Vet before meeting the client.

• Ensures a Veterinary Referral Form is received before providing any treatment and ensures a new form is received after 6 months of treatment.

• Ensures a Vet report is sent to a Vet updating on progress after the initial session and thereafter every 12 sessions or inline with the CHA Quality Standards.

• Performs a 12-point health check on the patient and incorporate/factor into the program and accurately record the observations. Secures patient information by recording all information on SHARC and maintains owner confidence by keeping client information confidential in line with GDPR guidelines.

• Ensures that the cost of the patient session is added to the client account on SHARC and all PDQ payments credited to SHARC. Update the claims spreadsheet with payments on account for MOD or direct Insurance Claims and ensure balances match to SHARC.

• Maintain a clean, safe Centre in order that all customers receive the same standard at the end of the day as they receive at the start.

• Ensures correct water management is maintained and tests the water three times throughout the day.

• Ensures that the Info email mailbox is checked throughout the day and customers contacted wherever possible on the same day.

• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations and ensure trainee’s are supervised at all times.

• Regularly provides a client photo with case study on social media to accurately promote Hydrotherapy/Physiotherapy/Supplements and increase referrals/enquiries to the website.

• Keeps supplies available by stocktaking stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications and ensures 25 hours CPD is completed annually and accurately recorded and reflected on in Skills+.

• Complies with the CHA Quality Standards.

• Enhances the business reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
