Finance/HR Officer


Supporting the school in attaining its aims and objectives by managing the finances of the school with the objective of providing the most effective and efficient service to the school. Ensuring that proper accounts are kept, maintaining and inputting data onto computerised financial management systems. Ensuring that information contained therein is up to date, accurate and complies with relevant legislation and policy. To work as part of the administrative team in supporting the school and providing general support for the effective conduct of their business.



  1. Assist the School by maintaining good relationships with staff, parents, governors, contractors representatives and external agencies in order to promote the objectives of the School.

  2. Processing of all orders, invoices in accordance with school financial regulations.

  3. Completion of timesheets, submitting and dealing with payroll/contractual queries with EPM.

  4. Inputting all contractual HR instructions into EPM portal.

  5. Maintain confidential records on employees’ salaries in order to ensure that expenditure under this heading is controlled.

  6. Facilitate the staff return to work forms and meetings.

  7. To monitor the school budget and report regularly to the Head teacher and Governors. Advising on budget position and reporting difficulties in order that corrective action can be taken.

  8. To prepare budgets with accountancy advice within timetable for final approval.

  9. Produce the monthly BMR financial returns to set timetable which would include the bank reconciliation, payroll reconciliation and the VAT submittal.

  10. To maintain and reconcile all bank accounts ensuring that they do not overdraw.

  11. To ensure that the school complies with VAT legislation.

  12. Manage the renewals of school software packages.

  13. Ensure the safe collection, reconciliation and banking of all cash transactions.

  14. Maintain fixed assets register liaising with the Head and Chair of Finance.

  15. Operation of schools letting policy and invoicing for use.

  16. To prepare and present, at Governors meetings, reports on budget and property matters as required.

  17. Ensure appropriate insurance cover is in place for school property, buildings and personnel.

  18. Locating, collating, analysing and presenting information as required. Keeping up to date analysis of costs and other statistical information.

  19. Analyse and reconcile school trips costs.

  20. Line manage the Property Manager by overseeing the property maintenance work to be carried out. Ensure all work is carried out on time and to a satisfactory standard complying with all necessary regulations including health and safety.Any other duties relevant to the post.
