Assistant Clerk
Hours: 20 hours per week, office-based
Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 1.00pm
Salary: SCP 14 – £29,540 per annum, pro rata
Uppingham Town Council is at the heart of its vibrant and historic market town, supporting the local community and helping to shape Uppingham’s future.
The Council is looking to appoint a part-time Assistant / Deputy Clerk to work alongside and support the Town Clerk in a busy and varied office environment. Working 20 hours per week, you will assist the Town Clerk with the day-to-day administration of the Council, the delivery of sound local government and governance, and the implementation of the Council’s forward-thinking plans and projects.
This is a varied role which would suit someone who is organised, confident, able to work on their own initiative, and comfortable dealing with Councillors, members of the public, and external organisations.
Previous local government experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as appropriate on-site training and support will be provided. The successful candidate will be encouraged to undertake the ILCA (Introduction to Local Council Administration) qualification. For the right candidate, there may also be opportunities for future development and progression within the Council.
