Royal Lymington Yacht Club

HRH The Princess Royal KG KT GCVO QSO

SAILING EVENTS ADMINISTRATOR

ARE YOU A PROACTIVE ORGANISER WHO LIKES WORKING TO DEADLINES?
ARE YOU LOCAL TO LYMINGTON?
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO SAIL?

Does this sound like you? Then we want to hear from you!

The Royal Lymington Yacht Club are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and organised individual to join us in a busy and rapidly growing Yacht Club as our Sailing & Events Administrator.

The Club is honoured to have Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal as Patron.  Many of our Members have competed for the UK in various international championships; others have achieved world circling passages. Our Clubhouse is beautifully situated and a social hub for our Members.  The view from the balcony as the sun goes down on a summer evening is magnificent.  In summer we are on the water most days of the week.  In winter, we have an extensive programme of activities and the Clubhouse is open nearly every day of the year.

We organise over 180 days of sailing each year and start over 250 races. We host events at Club, National and International level and we are very proud of our reputation on the yachting circuit. As a Club, we strongly encourage a relaxed family atmosphere and welcome everybody with an interest in boating whilst still maintaining the standards of a “Royal” Yacht Club.

Working under the direction of our RYA Training Principal and Waterfront Manager, your job as Sailing & Events Administrator will be to coordinate, implement and deliver the Club’s programme of sailing events. You will provide a welcoming and customer focussed service as the first point of contact for all visiting competitors to the Club and you’ll be pivotal in preparing all the event resources and documentation required to ensure these events are a success.

Additionally, you will also:

  • Be the liaison between the sailing department and the cruising division.
  • Coordinate all weekly racing events.

To join us as our Sailing & Events Assistant, you’ll need:

  • To be an experienced or proactive organiser / administrator.
  • Have the ability to be self-managing and prioritise workloads effectively using one’s own initiative.
  • To have the ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • The ability to work well under pressure

An interest in sailing is essential.

Due to our location, it would be beneficial if you had a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
You will be required to work 40 hours throughout the week including evenings, some weekends and bank holidays on an event rota basis.

Salary: Competitive salary based on experience.

Benefits:

  • Staff pension contribution
  • NFDC car parking permit.
  • 28 days holiday per year pro rata.
  • Inclusion into the annual staff fund.

If you are an organised individual with a real passion for a challenging new role then please send a copy of our CV to Royal Lymington Yacht Club, Bath Road, Lymington, Hants, SO41 3SE or email kirsty@rlymyc.org.uk.
