The Royal Lymington Yacht Club are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and organised individual to join us in a busy and rapidly growing Yacht Club as our RYA Training Centre Principal and Waterfront Manager.
The Club is honoured to have Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal as Patron. Many of our Members have competed for the UK in various international championships; others have achieved world circling passages. Our Clubhouse is beautifully situated and a social hub for our Members. The view from the balcony as the sun goes down on a summer evening is magnificent. In summer we are on the water most days of the week. In winter, we have an extensive programme of activities and the Clubhouse is open nearly every day of the year.
We organise over 180 days of sailing each year and start over 250 races. We host events at Club, National and International level and we are very proud of our reputation on the yachting circuit. As a Club, we strongly encourage a relaxed family atmosphere and welcome everybody with an interest in boating whilst still maintaining the standards of a “Royal” Yacht Club.
Working under the direction of our General Manager – Operations, your job as RYA Training Centre principal and Waterfront Manager will be to coordinate, implement and deliver the Club’s programme of on the water activity including our growing Training Centre. You will be responsible for meeting the revenue and cost targets for the Club’s sailing and training programme whilst overseeing the day to day management of the Club’s instructors and waterfront team.
Additionally, you will also:
- Be running your own on the water courses.
- Overseeing all weekly racing events.
To join us as our RYA Training Centre Principal and Waterfront Manager, you’ll need to:
- Meet the criteria to undertake the role RYA Training Centre Principal.
- Be a qualified powerboat and senior sailing instructor.
- Have the ability to be self-managing and prioritise workloads effectively using one’s own initiative.
- Have the ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- The ability to work well under pressure
Due to our location, it would be beneficial if you had a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
You will be required to work 40 hours throughout the week including evenings, some weekends and bank holidays on an event rota basis.
Salary - Competitive salary based on experience.
